So for some school, if you apply for MD/PhD program and did not get in, you would be still considered for MD. But I think a lot of MD/PhD programs do not make final decision until mid-Feb.

Since we don't know if you get accepted to MD/PhD until very late, how does it affect your MD application cycle since applying early is very important for MD?

Anyone had any experience?

Thanks!!

You're absolutely right, for most programs that advertise that they will consider you for MD after MD/PhD rejection, it is so late in the cycle when your app gets sent to the MD-only committee that it doesn't stand a good chance of getting anywhere. Being rejected pre-interview to MD/PhD gives slightly more time, but you'd still be interviewing at the end of cycle for MD-only. I was given an interview at WashU's MD program after MD/PhD rejection pre-interview (I applied very early), and the offered interview day was one of their last. Some programs like Harvard and Stanford may admit you to the MD-program before the MD/PhD decision is made.
