Is there such a track for both an MD and a DDS together? I searched the forums and found little more than MD vs. DDS comparision posts. I swear with all the "vs" posts out there, it sounds like they hold annual cage-matches to duke it out and declare one the Winner of the Cage (I have no idea how wrestling works, can you tell?)

Anyway, are the two that exculsive? If someone wanted to be something akin to a facial surgeon, wouldn't this be basically what they would do?

I'm looking more into the surgial aspect of this, but I was curious how that would work.

(yes, I posted this in the MD and the Dental forums, thought I'd get both sides of the opinion on this.)

Attend (and graduate) dental school, then apply to oral and maxillofacial surgery residencies that require completion of the MD degree ~ about 6 years postgrad training.

There was a DMD/MD track at Kentucky a few years ago. It failed pretty miserably. It takes a lot of time to be a dental student and a lot of time to be a medical student. They were telling the students they could get both in five years, but it was going to really take like six to seven in the end. I have both from an OMS residency. I would say just pick one, because a combination won't do much good.
