I had an interview at UNC the other day for their MD only program, just to keep it as another back-up plan. It was the most horrible experience. I've had great experiences working with patients, but the fact of the matter is I totaly light up when I talk about research. Truth is I want the MD to be a better researcher, and they could totaly tell. They were looking at me like I had three heads, yuck! I now feel like I'm still a good shot at the MD/PhDs, but the straight MDs are an absolute no-go. Backwards? Has this happened to anyone else? 🙁

I've already been accepted to a straight MD program but my goal is the MSTP and they aren't interviewing yet but if I don't get into the MSTP then I'll do the MD first then the PhD. For me, the clinical and research aspects are pretty equal, I want to do both so I'll do whatever is required to achieve that goal.
