MD/PhD application updates

What qualifies as worthwhile to upload to the updates portion of my application?
Speaking to my own situation, I wasn't able to get a shadowing position until this month. Should I take the time to upload an official statement from the physician I'm shadowing, or is this "not important" enough? Asking because I've heard adcoms tell people on interview days that anything short of winning an Olympic gold medal doesn't qualify as update-worthy.

If you never shadowed until this month, i would say it is significant enough to warrant an update.
even if the MD/PhD committee likes an applicant, if the applicant lacks clinical hours, the MD committee will sometimes veto the candidate--even if they have great research experience.
my opinion (take it for what you will) is that you /need/ shadowing hours in your application.
