OP's board scores aren't competitive enough for derm. Derm needs to hit around 250. Op said they tried neurology, internal medicine, and pathology.

My fault, I saw where he say that now. But Derm is proberly the ONLY field worth pursing in medicine. Just like Orthodontist is the ONLY field worth pursing in dentistry. All the other fields suck and the OP is smart to move to pharmacy if he didn't get into Derm.

it is the truth. ortho, derm or pharm. Anything else is either too stressful, too nasty or too many hours. Not worth my time.

Free botox would be nice! Why doesn't she want derm? I guess the ONLY other field that might be "worth" pursing would be radiology. A radiologist makes GREAT money. Other than that I can't think of any other field. Cosmetic surgeon maybe?? but thats malpractice insurance up the SKY there.

It won't be great for healthcare, but it will be GREAT for the individual thats pursing Dermatology. Why work your ass off when you don't have too? The goal here is to decrease workload/hours and increase pay as much as possible.

It would depend on the individual. Not everybody goes into health care trying to make as much money in the easiest and shortest amount of time. I definitely don't think derm is the "only" field worth pursing in medicine.

Its funny you mention Anesthesiology. I knew one a few years ago and he told me if you are smart you will go into nursing. He told me that being a doctor is too much responsiblity, too much work, too much stress, etc.

He told me nursing is a great field to go into and he strongly recommend it for me.

I also met another doctor that told me he HATES his job. He seriously told me he wish he NEVER went to medical school in the first place. Lastly he mentioned he made more money doing real estate than being a doctor! he hates it so much!


The only field of medicine that I haven't heard a complaint about is Dermatology.

Lets face it, those are not the most thrilling specialties.
you seem like an A -personality guy, you probably would of liked Emergency medicine or surgery
Anyway, if I was in your shoes I would still search myself in medicine. If you don't find anything suitable for you, I would finish one residency, work for a while, pay off the debt and while working as a physician I would go to a pharm school. It would be a less traumatic transition.
I am like you as well. I have tried multiple professions, from secretary to school teacher. I am going into pharmacy, but half of my heart still wants to go to a med school. (pharmacy outweighs though ) But I just keep telling myself, enough, you are not going to a med school. Pharmacy is a better choice. I am not saying that you should stick with medicine, I am just saying that if pharmacy if you do go into pharmacy and still not happy, you will have to stick with pharmacy or medicine. You can't go to school for ever.
Also, pharmacy market is pretty saturated. There might be not so bright of a future ahead of us as far as the job search goes

Usually, the girls I know (and type it) always delineate it like girl-friend, or my girl-friends, not using the usually romantic "gf." Separating the two words, girl and friend, to convey the proper meaning. Put together, in American, it means a romantic affiliation.
