So I was all set to apply to MD schools this summer, but now I'm wondering if I should also apply to DO schools, too. Can anyone explain the difference between the two? Are DOs allowed to prescribe and do surgery? Do MDs only look at the disease and not treat the person? Also, one of my friends is in nursing school now but also want to be a medical doctor (DNP). I'm a CNA and have always enjoyed the nursing side of things, so I was thinking if I was wanting to be an MD up until now, why not just be a DNP instead? Granted, nursing school would be harder than medical school, but if I'm enjoying it more, I think it would be worth it. Plus I think DNP is a more prestigious degree anyway since the schools that offer it don't use AA, so you know everyone in the program deserves to be there. Any advice?
