So I am a pre-med hoping to be a pediatric neurosurgeon at Harvard 🙂love🙂, or Stanford (maybe :hardy:). I have applied this cycle but so far have only gotten into DO programs and want to know whether I should take the acceptances or reapply next year??? Can I still accomplish my dreams with a DO degree even though it will put me at a disadvantage for residencies. I mean, I know I can tots get >240 on Step 1 so I'm covered there..................

Happy April Fools Day SDN!!! 🙂

Edit: lol did someone edit my post giving me really poor grammar? 😛
EditEdit: Got it, we were pranked by SDN!

Every person I met on the interview trailed wanted to be a "pediatric neuro-oncological-surgeon. or maybe a pediatrician. I thought this crap stopped once they got this far but I was wrong.

You know what's even funnier? Take note of how many people at the DO interviews DON'T want to go into primary care and compare that to their match lists.

So does that mean no DO student should ever aspire to specialize? I get that not everyone can do derm/ortho, but there's nothing wrong with working hard and trying be one of the few that do. Just have a PC specialty in mind in case you don't.

Hey no frownies in this thread! It's the April Fools thread!

You guys may be laughing, but liberty university is opening 5 seats in a Neuro surgery residency. How does it feel to know an LU grad can be a Neuro surgeon and not you?

sadly ....almost thought you were someone I used to know.....they typed just like that 🙁

and no everytime I write the word "I" it changes it to "me"

*edit* URRGGHHHHHH who changed the words to give us horrible grammar? haha

Will they be doing studies to see what brain abnormalities lead to a belief in creationism?

Go MD. From what I've read and the times I've asked similar questions DOs have more limited opportunities for surgical specialities. It's best to just go MD and not have to deal with that issue if at all possible.

Will they fill these spots with only LUCOM grads? By the way, what's wrong with LUCOM having their grads go into neurosurgery?

People on SDN play DO's up a little bit like it isn't any different than MD. Either one is a huge accomplishment without a doubt, but do whatever you can to try and get into an MD school.

Because we don't want a bunch of neurosurgeons who blame disease on the deveel.
How bout one good ol boys who compare the LGBQT community to pedos and goat rapists. As long as they're in a top 10 lelamirite?

April 1st is so legit this year. Google Maps with its pokemon, hulu with its hannibal cooking show, and now SDN. I'm impressed with the quality of April 1st this year.

ay matey I be walking the plank.
