i am still wait-listed at several schools with 18/19/20 for this most recent cycle. I am a business finance major (McCombs/UT Austin) and have applied to graduate in-absentia this spring..i have not attended college since May 2008 and it has been 1 year since i've taken any courses. It was very aggravating being put on a wait-list, but i can be honest to say that it further motivated me to invest into my future with capital knowledge. there is nothing more i want in life than to be a part of the dental league. i believe in the dental cause and contribution to society..i gladly donated a small fraction of my total life (1 month). what better investment (+NPV) than into your own future, your family's future, and the future of your practice (business). I struggled with myself the last 30 days at 12 hours per day (360 total hours) and in the end i conquered something i initially thought impossible. Overall, I used Cliffs AP, Topscore, Achiever, Destroyer, and Kaplan White Book and Online Subject Tests. i don't believe when people say you have to be smart to make good grades. it is the time you devote to truly learn a topic and a strict diet (limited to 2 small homecooked healthy meals with lots of greens and low carbs + Low Carb MONSTER). please remember that your education will affect the lives of thousands of patients. what you learn now will surely apply to your future. if you really want to reach your goals, i advise that you NOT take shortcuts because you will only hurt yourself and others which could be an end to your means. from my experience this last cycle, i had excellent interviews, but it was my low/average DAT score that held me back..therefore, anybody with DAT scores (18/19/20) with similar GPA from a competitive university should definitely in my opinion retake for 19+ AA..to avoid my same fate...trust me! it sucks to wait around and waste a year of your life contemplating (think to yourself: "I MUST GET A LETTER DECEMBER 1ST!!) 😉 don't make excuses! devote your time and invest in yourself..there is NO better investment..this coming from a finance major...i also prayed on the road to the testing center today..after my test i saw a homeless guy begging for money in the middle of a 5 lane feeder, he looked beaten up, skinny, and really dirty..i gave him $5 (still owe $30,000 in loans from undergrad) as a start to my good deeds to society; i experienced a brief moment when his eyes glimmered and the words "oh my God.." followed..very satisfying feeling..it was a beautiful moment..then on my way to dinner (after not eating for the last 24 hours..well, almonds, peanuts, walnuts, pecans + MONSTER) i was digging through my wallet and a small slip of paper fell out, a most recent fortune (yes, from a cookie at a chinese restaurant..lol).."you will be transforming a situation in your life now with a positive attitude.." ...awesome...tell me what you think guys...it really means alot!

very inspiring story! my first DAT scores were 19/19/16 and i'm retaking it on the 27th. I've been studying hard but I also have to handle school so it can get tiring at times. I will apply for the first time this june, hoping, like you said, to get a letter dec. 1st! apart from that, you've got some SOLID stats there and I hope your waitlist gets converted into an acceptance soon so you don't have to wait a whole year. gluck the rest of the way!

I'm confused. Your 20 AA was 93.6%, yet another person posted a 20 AA of 87% (both tests taken just a few days apart). If schools don't see the percentile, how can they differentiate between DAT scores? Had you taken the other person's test you probably would have had a 21 or higher. I realize there are different versions of the test, but it would make more sense if the school was able to see the percentile.

yea..i noticed that as well..i guess my version was harder? :luck: overall, its the luck of the draw..nothing you can control, so don't worry about that..study like you have never before and make your dream a reality..😀 ..its also about consistency...aim for 18+ in all sections to solidify the overall score!
