To all my fellow URMs:

How does the Med-MAR registry work? I just recently got my new MCAT score (37R), and I am wondering if I will be contacted via Med-MAR by med schools. If you have experience with it, does it help? Is it useful? Any thoughts would be appreciated 🙂

I signed up for it and although my mcat score was nowhere are awesome as yours some schools did contact me....but that is about it. Schools may send you some brochures and stuff.

About MedMar, schools should DEFINITELY be contacing you VERY soon. I still have contacts at schools that contacted me years ago!!!

Thanks to MedMar I got a letter from Harvard University inviting me to apply. HA! Yeah right...I didn't even get my hopes up. LOL it still makes me laugh.

Same here then I did apply and of course no interview duh.

I got that letter too and I think URM's that get at least an "8" in each category are encouraged to apply (The lowest MCAT for Harvard is "8" i n each section). As a matter of fact, a friend of a friend with a 24 MCAT, finsihed from there many years ago but she had very strong research and had some unusual EC's like medical type serivce in Africa.

Still I think any applicant that gets the letter and FOLLOWs UP with a call or visit to the minority affiars office, probably has a decent shot at getting in.
