Hi everyone. I am a pretty new non-trad. I got my first degree in finance in 2008 and during that degree I only took one science class, Bio 111. I recieved a B. I graduated with a 3.46. I knew even before I graduated that I wanted to go into medicine, I just did not know how. I talked to the biology department about getting a bio degree to help me get into medical school, but they were kind of discouraging. So, I just finished my finance degree and decided to go into nursing. I have the three pre-reqs that I needed for that done; plus some extra science classes, but I really would rather go to medical school. Even though I know it is going to take longer, be more expensive, and it is going to be a more difficult path. I took a Phys, Chem, and another bio, but that is all I have for the pre-reqs. I recieved A's and B's. I want to know if I should go for it because I have a shot or if I should stick to the safe route. I have pretty thick skin, so just come right out and say it straight, please. I want to finish a degree in biology because it will encompass the rest of my pre-reqs for medical school and I will get a degree. If anyone can suggest a better path, I am open to suggestions. The only thing to consider is that I will get my bio degree for half tuition. It will take me a year and a half to complete it, which is the same amount of time it will take me to get all of the pre-reqs anyway. So, I guess that is pretty much my story. Thanks for your help.
