med school radio advertisement

now b4 anyone goes nuts here, when i apply this school is my top choice, and im sure with my stats i could go MD but will choose DO

so im driving in my jeep tonight, and all of a sudden i hear ....." do you want to be a physician, is medicine for you, then consider the NY COM. Then Dr ross proceeded to give a short speech and at the end it said...NYCOM, WHEN CAN YOU START".

when i heard this i almost drove into a tree
really, what medical school advertises on the radio, (i think it was 102.7, not sure)
I have heard people with low ststs getting into nycom (those of which probably make detter physicians the someone with kick ass numbers)....but i guess i was shocked that they advertise on radio

Wow, interesting. I've never heard of a medical school advertising on the radio either.

Remember that the more they advertise, the more applications they get, meaning more money, and the potential to get even better candidates to choose from.

It makes sense.

I heard the commercial too and it sorta surprised me, but I guess itsd just part of the schools [NYIT, the parent school] total PR campaign. But NYCOM is still my #1 choice

Everytime I hear that on Z100, i shake my head--I believe it is just a PR thing for most of the people who listen to that will not be serious about medicine. Those who are serious are already well aware of the school and its reputation.
Looking forward to hearing back from NYCOM!!

maybe it was z100, no it was not it was one of the local Long island stations

wvsom has a huge billboard on your way outside of charleston on your way to lewisburg, i thought it was interesting, it has a student sitting under a tree studying.

Billboards are okay esp when it is in the same city/town. But radio station? thats a big hell NO! It makes it look like they hand out degrees like used cars. Like some kinda internet get your quick degree from here. What if a Program director from a residency hears that, how would he feel? Everybody who wants to be a doctor know of all medical schools or at least heard of them. It is my opinion that it hurts the intregity of the school. After saying all this they are still fighting UMDNJ for the number 1 spot on my list.
