This is a question I've had for quite some time. I was wondering if there was any correlation between the med school you attend and a career in academia (I want to teach medicine at some level after a clinical career). I intend to pursue a career in allopathic medicine. Any thoughts?

Generally speaking, the academic pedigree is the only reason to shoot for a higher ranking med school. Reason being, some of those top residencies prefer the inpred pedigree type students, so it's slightly easier to end up at a top research school if that's where you're coming from. Same with undergrad --> med school. That said, you med school is not as big of a factor as your scores and research experience when applying for residencies, and you could easily land a residency at any decent academic location from the vast majority of med schools. Just like applying to med school.
