Hi all.

I'm reading on a school that allows students to take undergraduate courses free of charge. I love this idea!! (although I'm not sure if theres possibly enough time)

Is this common? Do many medical schools allow their students to take courses at the respective undergraduate institution?

Thanks in advance!

Case Western does and I thought that was pretty cool. I've heard from a few friends that they wish they would've worked or taken Spanish classes during years 1 and 2, so with proper planning and prioritization I think something like that is possible.

Worst case, you could just sit in on classes you think you like. Most probably don't want/need the credits anyway.

If you have spare time you should (and should want to) be spending it shadowing, doing research in a relevant field for competitive specialties, catching up on sleep after a block etc. Even if you could fit an undergrad class into your schedule, it would not be a great idea. I could see someone doing it if they're desperate to study some English lit and they're a superstar who doesn't need to spend that much time studying to pass. There are some people like that, but that's still an outrageously low-priority quality to look for in a med school.
