Medi-Cal to eliminate dental coverage...how will it affect dentists?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
A decent chance that Cali won't be the last state where this (atleast to some degree) happens in the current economic climate/budget crisis.😱

Going to be very interesting to see how this entire big picture medicaid/obamacare thing plays out over the next couple of years and if some sanity in the form of how the heck are we going to pay for all this vs. the notion of "buy now and worry about paying later" which is what's been getting us in trouble is still the status quo

What do you guys think?

As a dental applicant, I would inquire about a schools dependence upon government programs for patients, but ask the current students, not the admins. This question should play a part of the equation, but should not be the main deciding factor in schools. Ask the students (several students, not just one) about patients, requirements, chair availability, graduating on time, clinical board passing rates. Most of the time, interviews are paired with first or second years who love talking about how great histology class is or how wonderful the student lounge is... make SURE you ask the 3rd or 4th years how they feel (several of them!)

As from a dentist perspective, you can read the previous posts and see how I feel about government entitlement programs.

I say, Denti-Cal (comprehensive adult coverage only), good riddance!
