Since a lot of interviewers like to ask potentials about current medical issues and a way to resolve them I thought it would make an appropriate thread. I'll start by naming a few and following with my thoughts. I hope you all can come up with more issues than these:
Stem Cell Research/Genetic Technology: I lumped these two together because I think it is important to distinguish between reproductive and therapeutic cloning. TC is going to be so beneficial and I hope the demagogues don't stamp it out by lumping it together with RC.
Euthanaisia: Disagree, all though it may be true that some people are in so much pain that life is in tolerable, if this is allowed, ( by the way where is this legal or illegal) it opens the door for those that just think they want to die to make a rash decision.
Abortion: Agree, all though I think it promotes irresponsibility it is necessary if someone rapes their daughter.
Mal-practice premiums: Sky high premiums are a result of poor doctors and malicious suits. Any suggestions for resolution here are well noted.
Managed Care: All though frustrating for doctors at times, you can't knock it because after all they are running a business. Some doctors may feel that they are not able to provide complete care because of frugal HMO's but something is better than nothing. One concern I have is doctors that recieve financial incentives to do less testing.
Others?????:
