I am a freshman majoring in Medical Studies at Arizona State and my major does not require calculus for premed track. I took precalc last semester as my advisor recommended me to take it since I did not have a calc background in high school. I decided on the MD/PhD path recently and I see that the majority of medical schools require calculus, with Mayo requiring one-year and I want to apply there since it's in my state. The issue is, I don't know how can I fit it in my course schedule since I will be taking ochem, A&P, psych, soc, with another major related course next semester. I am usually good at math but I am concerned about the coursework/schedule. Are there any medical schools that don't require calculus (or require only one semester) for MD/PhD? Thanks in advance

1. You are majoring in premed? I don't think that will fly with MSTP admissions. You need a focused science background to do research at the graduate level. Major in a science.

2. You should take calculus, because without it you cannot understand physics, and because it is beautiful and also good for you to know as an educated person in the world.

Mayo Scottsdale has a medical school?????
I would double-check that. Most of us know Mayo being in Rochester, MN, which is as far from PHX as you can get, and that Mayo Scottsdale is naught but a satellite cash-grab.

Just curious - what would you want to get the PhD in?

My sentiment is the same as @tr but I’ll add that the only program to my knowledge which *requires* calculus is Harvard HST. Harvard Pathways doesn’t.
Is Harvard Pathway the same as Harvard's MD program?

Take Calculus. I can't imagine being a scientist without understanding the concepts behind calculus, even if you never differentiate a function again after the class.
It is not about taking calculus or not. I just want to know if there are any MD-PhD programs that do not require calculus

Most don’t require it outright unless it’s for a particular PhD program. Neuro might, but again it’ll differ school by school. Have you taken any calculus before? You might be able to bypass a calf requirement if you did AP calc in high school and calculus based physics in college, for example

"College-Level Mathematics (Statistics and Computer Science are acceptable but Calculus is preferred)"

Just take calculus. It's not that bad. In my opinion, it's truly a beautiful subject. It's actually quite intuitive and was developed to address real world problems. Understanding the fundamentals of calculus will increase the accessibility of many concepts in science for you.
