I've been trying to find more interactive ways of learning all this step 1 stuff than just reading books all day. Firecracker and videos are ok but not that interesting. Anybody know any games that deal with actual medicine (or as close as possible)? Even if its just a bunch of random cases, it better than doing boring USLME questions all the time.

Surgeon simulator ftw.

Lol I guess I would use that if I wanted to learn exactly what NOT to do. Not sure I can just smash someone ribs open with a hammer in real life.

You want to study for step 1 by playing video games? What, I don't even...

Not really but If i can learn stuff on my downtime rather than playing halo or doing firecracker till I go insane, I'd like to learn about it.

i do uworld questions in my downtime on my phone
i wish i was lying
Isn't that kinda wasting the questions though? Don't know if I'll retain much from that.

Unfortunately, not everything boring and necessary is inherently super fun to learn. The largest task for me is to get motivated enough so that I go into every study session excited and pumped to learn about clotting factors or craniopharyngiomas or whatever I am pummeling my brain with at that time

Trauma Center on wii, it is harder than the real thing!

I wish there was a "catchphrase" style electronic game where all the phrases were diseases. Would be a fun way to study in groups

Edit: could probably do that with flash cards but the little beeping thing makes it more fun

Just found out about the "Prognosis" line of games available in Android and Apple. Definitely worth a look.

Not really for Step 1, but yeah they are pretty cool. I like them.

I heard EA is making a medicine 2017 game with a "create a legend" option, but they're waiting on LCME approval first. you can buy certain stethoscopes to give you character a stat boost

Do they allow you to choose different storyline paths? I'd be curious to know what powers you get as Cranial Wizard.

thats in the next expansion pack

I agree with this, including the DS games. Probably not the most realistic games, but they're still fun.

yeah this game is awesome

it's fun except there's so much downtime walking so it takes you like 10 minutes to get past staph aureus or whatever the first one is . I think I did the first two then quit

I quit after three people were rude to me and didn't spread their diseases

Same here. Cool concept, though. Stories and this were a huge waste of time for me. I just have to stare at my notes for a while and I'm good.

Yea the walking is kinda annoying but the animations are gonna help me a lot. Not the most efficient way to study but this is pretty much what I was looking for.
