Both. I'm participating in a clinical event that deals with pregnant patients. Combination of "well, Category C? But this is B...less efficaceous though..." is both science and art.

if by art you mean something that burrows from the field of humanities, or explicitly, the art faculties of universities, it is definitely both an art and a science, and the reason why I am pursuing Medicine. Straight science is boring, and straight art is garbage.

Medicine is art. Science is just the knowledge required to make it. Just look at the definitions of either terms. Science is to know, whereas art is the actual physical product.

It is definitely both. The principles that you use to treat patients is based upon evidence-based science. The way you express those treatments, your logical reasoning behind those treatments, and further innovations in medicine are guided by art. Being able to empathise and communicate effectively with your patients is an art. You simply can't treat your patients like biological water balloons.

Practically every serious profession is a combination of art and science. Medicine is not special.

Then again, we all have our own ideas of what art is and it can be interpreted differently by different people. Medicine should never be interpreted differently by different physicians (that is scary). That's not my reason why I say it is only science though.
