Anyone planning or know someone who left medicine during residency to pursue a career in another field? Would you guys do medicine again if you could go back in time?
I am in my internship and planning on resigning. An interesting thing about my situation is that I'm military and have an obligation for 4 years. After quitting, I will most likely be required to work as a gmo (general medical officer) for 4 years, which is basically an fp doc. After 4 years, I'm out!
I will be debt free and excited about pursuing something else besides medicine. This profession just isn't worth the sacrifice, in my humble opinion.
And I am not alone in my sentiments. Check out this link....

I just spent the last 3 hours listening to one of my best friends from high school vent about how much he's hating internship. He's gonna finish then start culinary school. I'm sort of shocked. He's wanted to be a doctor since 7th grade and while he was in med school he was so excited about medicine. Even more than I am (I'm still in 4th year). He was on the verge of tears today. I want to believe that it's only because he had a bad day but he's started looking at culinary schools already so he might be serious.
