I recently got a high pass for my sub-intership and am freaking out about what that means for my residency application. I felt that I did a good job and worked very hard- the grade really surprised me. Reading my evaluation, the narrative portion of it is good, but my numeric scoring that goes into my final grade was pretty low. My transcripts are going out to programs in a few weeks and my medical education office said there was no way I could delay their release so residencies wouldn't be able to see that grade. I know that in fourth year grades get inflated so is a high pass going to raise red flags in my residency application? It is inappropriate for me to email the director to ask him to reconsider my grade?

You can't change it. It's not a red flag. Even a "pass" wouldn't be a red flag. You're fine. It won't affect you.

this is the med student's equivalent of "i got a B+ in orgo, will i get any interviews?"
