We all know your Step 1 score can make or break your residency application but how much can a great Step 2 score do for you if Step 1 isn't so great? I know the most competitive programs, esp. surgical subspecialties, may use Step 1 scores as a cutoff but what about other programs? Thanks.

a great step 2 can really make up for a lousy step 1...a lot of times, you automatically you get offers at better places...

furthermore it helps open the door for the harder specialities...

It really means a lot to me to hear that, gives hope to some of us who made some bad choices during med school.
