Are there any good tutorials are on meditech for pharmacists order verification? I’ve trier searching YouTube. Started a new job that uses meditech and I am quite overwhelmed—I’ve used cerner, Pharmnet, and epic and it’s a lot more user friendly in terms of reviewing duplicates, labs, etc. I am overwhelmed by the way the screen looks (pages of meds even when inactive meds is limited to 48 hours) and am worried I will miss seeing a duplicate. In my old verification systems, it’s so easy to review for duplicates or to go to the eMAR. I’m terrified of making a mistake. If I slow down too much to review labs or eMAR (it takes so long to load and the loaded MAR is not user friendly), I’m afraid I’m going to cause a back log. Other than that, love the job so really hoping to make this work. Any meditech gurus here can give me some advice so I can avoid errors? Thank you

If there are duplicates, meditech has a pop-up rule that comes up before you can verify it. You even have to pick an action before you can go past that screen. Inactive meds are easily seen with DC status noted next to the order and they all sit at the bottom of all the active meds. Yeah meditech is pretty difficult to get used to and looks very outdated. Ask your director for the meditech manual, I'm sure he has a big ol binder or a pdf document online for you to review. As for advice, I would not rush through any orders... With this system, it takes practice and learning all the keystrokes like F9 (lookup), F11, F12, etc. helps as well. Good luck.

Aren't they going to give you any training? I'd ask your co-workers for tips since the software can be configured differently depending on the organization and what version you are on.

As someone who has worked behind the scenes on Meditech, Epic, and Cerner, I must say that Meditech was my least favorite.

Hi there, I am currently doing a rotation that uses Meditech, this might be really basic but here is what I have learned
3. Process order for patient files
F11 exit/clear out

Under function:
PO to look at the order history
EPD (for allergies) --> F12 --> 2 patient allergies/ADRs
PCI for patient chart

In regards to looking at active meds I find this helpful PCI --> Medications --> click status to organize active vs DC
There should also be a daily report of duplicate meds to check over

I think you will get used to Meditech once you work at the job for a bit. I find it to be pretty easy to navigate (granted I didn't have much to compare it to when I started working so maybe that's why). As others have said, there will be pop ups for duplicates and everything else under the sun. Not sure about any tutorials.

Does meditech calculate IV rates for you like Epic does?
