This is why we can't have nice things...

I will say that the conferences have gotten much, much tamer since the early aughts. @lobelsteve knows what I mean.

There used to be knock-down, drag-out fights between speakers and SDN'ers followed by various high-risk behaviors, black-out drinking, and various chemically enhanced activities. It made for great stories but very cringy depositions and divorce proceedings.

There is a reason why the KOLs all have pointy (perhaps steel tipped) shoes

There is a doc on this board who mostly lurks. What a magical evening in Chicago. Dueling piano bar, bachelorette party, getting kicked out of the bar, throwing up in the taxi, throwing up in the hotel. I spent the night awake to make sure he did not aspirate and die on his vomitus.
Ahh, the good old days. And yes I have pictures.

"Here's to the nights we can't remember, with the friends we'll never forget!!"

In my defense, we had dinner at a Cuban/Sushi fusion restaurant that set me up for the whole evening.

Steve was an amazing fellowship director/instructor . . . and apparently a pretty good babysitter as well.

Translation, had some rum and cokes, a few mojitos, then sake bombs to start the night... Totally the restaurant's fault though

Poor Markus had to go along for the ride all night.
I forgot about that sushi place. A few blocks off the Mile, 2 story restaurant/bar.
