hey guys, I plan on meeting with a school I got waitlisted on to go over my application. I was wondering what kind of questions I could ask?

Would asking them what I should do to stand out as a reapplicant be kinda lame? Since if they told me and I go out and do just that, would I be viewed as someone who is just good at following directions, with no independant thought.?

I also have the option of either talking over the phone or meeting in person. Will it really make a difference to meet in person to "stand out", since this school is about a 4hr drive from me?

thanks.

I would meet in person ... but I'm not a phone person.

I also think that asking what you could do to stand out would be a good question.

I would meet in person to show your that you're sincere about attending their school.

You can phrase the questions like, "What area is lacking/weak in my application?" instead of directly asking "What can I do to improve my application?". That way, you can get some pointers without seeming the way you mentioned.

Make sure to ask if each LOR looks good. I have a friend that is now a MS2 and he was rejected by our state school 3 times because of one LOR--the person could not write to save his life or my friends for that matter. Also ask if there are any specific ways that you can show the Adcom that you want to go to the school you are waitlisted at and *only* that school (if you feel that way of course). Good luck! 😉

Would wearing a suit be too much for this occasion?

It might be too much. I would wear the suit you wore during your interview, but I would just leave the jacket at home. Definitely wear a tie, and try to pick a conservative looking one as to not distract the committee from you and to your tie. Wear a white shirt too-- they are always conservative looking. Just remember the medical community is pretty conservative and you want to dress the part. NO KHAKIS!😀
