Hi everyone, I've got a meeting with the Dean of Admissions at a school coming up.
I did a search on this previously, and got some great tips on what to ask him 👍

But my question now is, should I have my app submitted before then? I was under the impression they couldn't meet with you while your application was active, but then I read somewhere else that one Dean "made a note" on someone's application that they met with the Dean before.

I don't want to rush my PS (still editing), but would it look bad if I don't have my application submitted by the meeting?

I wasn't sure, which is why I asked.

ur user name "jiayo" means something in chinese, i think it means to add more gas lol. but obivousely, the other meaning is much different than the literal meaning.

I would think that how you write your PS might be affected by any insight the Dean might give you, so, personally, I'd hold off on submitting.

I'd wait. It's not like what you say will have much have an influence on your application's success; however, with good questions, you may get insight on what to make sure is in your PS, etc.

 Literally, it does mean "add more gas" but colloquially, it’s used as a phrase for cheering and encouragement, especially in sports. Kind of the Chinese equivalent of saying, "Let's go <person/team name>! Let's go!"

Nice! 🙂 I wasn't sure how many on this forum would get it lol 👍

And thank you to everyone else who answered my question. I'll just walk in with my resume and CV, etc.

Do you really think it's going to matter all that much?

how would it not? you've shown personal interest in the school, dean can put a name to a face....I'm not saying meeting with the Dean is going to get you auto-accepted but for someone who doesn't have perfect stats (yes I'm referring to you Cole😛) it will give them more of a chance then they had before to maybe get an interview invite/closer look at the app...that's what I would think at least

I would like some more insight in this

The whole thing sounds like a waste of time to me. The Dean is being polite, but I doubt this will have any effect on the OP's chances of admission.

i dont mean to sound like im calling you out or anything but... part of me wants to think youre being cynical. the other part of me wants to think that you being a med student actually lends merit to your assertion. undecided. then again, maybe THIS is a waste of time

again, to think this has NO weight is slightly odd
