Hey guys!

I am new here and i am glad to be a member of this great USMLE community!!!
This is my first post in the forum and i am excited communicating with other people also studying for the USMLEs!

I have a question related to Gross Anatomy. Is it needed to memorize muscle groups which are somehow neglected during med school (e.g. muscles of the hand, deep muscles of the back)? And most importantly, when studying the muscles, is it important to memorize all of the origins, insertions, innervations and actions of every muscle?

Not sure about the deep back (I at least learned ILS), but if you didn't learn hand muscles that's a big red flag. Those are critical for understanding the manifestations of nerve lesions etc.

I don't think you have to learn/remember some of the inane names anatomists use for various locations of insertions and all that jazz, but it's reasonable to expect an understanding of where things connect and what they do. Without that I don't think you can say that you actually know/learned anatomy.
