Does an ionic bond have a higher bp and mp than water?
Sorry for all the questions guys, my dat is this week and im forgetting stupidddddd stuff

-If your talking about intermolecular interactions ( interaction between two molecules ) Hydrogen bonding ones have the highest mp and bp.
-Ionic bonding is intramolecular bonding ( between two atoms in a molecule), they will have higher mp/bp than covalent bonds, but never anything that hydrogen bonds.

an example would be which has a higher boiling point? Water or NaCl
same goes for melting point.

ionic bonds have a VERY wide range of the solid state...meaning a VERY high BP and MP. Comparing water and NaCl...NaCl def has a MUCH high BP. Just for reference as to how much of a difference theres is...BP for H20 is 100 degrees C...and NaCl has a BP of 1465 degrees C! Anything that has ionic bonds will usually exist in the solid state and have a crystalline structure (Simple, BC or FC)...anything that has covalent bonds will usually exist in liquid or gas state...depending on the intermolecular interactions between the molecules. hope that helps

theres no such thing as a stupid question...the stupidest thing u can do is NOT ask! helping each other why we are all here! 🙂
