Can any SCO students suggest neighborhoods/areas around Memphis that you would recommend if a student wanted to BUY a house or condo? So far I have been told Cordova and Southhaven, MS. My primary concern is safety. Thanks!

It really depends. Those two are good, but if you want to live a little farther out Collierville and Germantown are great places to live. It'll be next to impossible to find something there that's affordable though. The houses in my neighborhood are selling for $110,000-$130,000 which is much more do-able.

Bartlett, Cordova, Lakeland, Arlington, Collierville are areas in TN that are "safer". Souhthaven, Horn Lake, Olive Branch are safe in the north MS area. Midtown Memphis is ideal because you are close to the school and it's very ecclectic. There nice parts and not so nice parts in midtown. Hope this helps.
