Pg. 560 of First Aid describes how RET oncogene mutations can lead to neural crest tumors, i.e. pheochromocytoma, medullary carcinoma of the thyroid and (the part that confuses me) parathyroid adenoma.

I get the first two -- pheochromocytoma and adenoma of the parafollicular cells -- these are neural crest derivatives.

But what is the deal with parathyroid adenoma? Isn't it an endodermal derivative?

Thx!

It also has contributions from ectoderm and neural crest .
Also AFAIK it is parathyroid hyperplasia and not adenoma.
