My preceptor has been in practice for over fifty years and we were talking about old methods of treatments. One that came up was something called Mendel's throat paint. He can't remember the exact mixture but I was able to track down that it was an Iodine based solution which was used to coat the back of a patient's throat. The chief complaint would range from sore throat to difficulty swallowing, burning. I was wondering if any one has heard of this, and it's chemical make up. If you can point me in a better direction where I can get some information on this particular type of medical history I would really appreciate it. I guess it's this months "student get me that white whale" search, although I think it's slightly more interesting and less dangerous.
