So as not to hijack the other thread, I thought I'd start this here, since there isn't much discussion on this that I've found.

What is a good hairstyle for men to wear? I've got a horrible square head, so it looks goofy if I get a short style haircut, plus my hair sticks up the back unless I leave it long enough to comb:

except that I have horrible cowlicks and it gets really hard to tame when I leave it long enough to comb.

Basically, I've experimented for years with slightly different styles and haven't found anything good.

I'm female, but my personal favorite hairstyle on a guy would be the 50's/60's "Pleasantville" side part. It seems to be one of the few universal hairstyles that work on just about any head and face shape. Looks real snazzy too. 😎 Try it out, see how it looks.

As long as your hair looks fairly groomed, I'm sure it'll be fine. Most people I've seen on the trail either don't do anything with their hair or throw a little gel and do something with it. I think as long as you don't spike your hair straight up you'll probably be fine.

The image doesn't seem to be working, but side parts in general are back "in" right now. You can go classic and make it a very flat, slick side part, or more modern with some more volumizing and texturizing styling techniques.

With a cowlick that doesn't like to be tamed, you can have your stylist cut your cowlick SHORTER and then use a hairstyle that is partially "up" (i.e. more modern side part) so that, sticking up, your cow lick should still look natural. (don't blame me if this turns out bad, you have to be willing to take risks with hair--if it looks awful, just get it cut really short)

I'm going to get my hair locked in a couple of months.

What about facial hair? I think I look best with a 2 day beard

The 1/2 inch buzz cut has been working out well for me this summer

If you want to show them you are ill-groomed and may or may not be a sex offender.

Clean cut, clean shaved. I keep my hair less than an inch at all times.

Having facial hair is equivalent to being an unwashed pedophile hippy?

So if a person naturally doesn't do anything to their hair, just giving it a nice combing over is good enough? Or should I stick some gel in and comb it?

Usually I just wake up splash some water and straighten my hair a little. Lol, guess this is a no no for interviews eh?

Huh? a 2 day beard can look really sharp. Ill-groomed, because of that? you sound like my mother. But you're probably right, since interviewers are old.

A 2 day beard could look sharp, though mine definitely does not.

It's not about looking your best, it's more about looking professional. If your 2 day beard looks clean and professional, go with it. If you look "your best" with an unshaven look that drives the girls crazy, you still may need to drop it for the interview.

Ask several people if it looks professional. Unfortunately, your mom and her friends may be the best ones to ask because they would probably share the view of many of your interviewers.

messy hair, 5-, maybe even 6-o'clock shadow..

basically, do as House does. a cane couldn't hurt either..

hair that goes beyond the shoulders and dont tie it up!

I'd say a two day fuzz is a no because it looks unprofessional. I wear a full beard and will for the interview but I wear it between a cm and an inch. Just make sure it looks like you're trying to have facial hair and you're not just lazy.

Generally err on the conservative side for hair styles, facial hair, grooming, etc. You can always grow out your mullet and pedophile mustache once you're accepted.
