Mentioning Faculty Research in Apps

I'm finishing up my "Why do you want to attend X school" short answers and I was thinking I might mention some research that was done by the school's faculty that I find to be interesting. Is this okay to do? I don't want it to seem gratuitous. Thanks!

If you actively participated in the research then definitely mention it. Otherwise say you are interested in pursuing research as a dental student and perhaps mention one study of interest to you. (They want to hear about what you have to offer the dental school, less of what you found on their website)
