I'm preparing a letter to my first choice program.
Briefly, I told the PD that it is my first choice on interview day, but he recommended that I visit other programs. I have and remain convinced that the program is my #1. I'm writing an email to that effect.
Last week I found out that our group's abstract was accepted by the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine's National Conference this year. We will present it in May, but it was accepted. Is it a good idea to mention this in the letter/email? I think I should, but is this out-of-line?
Also, how should I even word this so that it sounds decent?

I have the abstract number and title.

I included a line, "I am pleased to inform you that my abstract was accepted for ..." as the announcement. They wrote back and included a statement of congrats about the research, so I don't think it was perceived as indecent.

Wait...isn't it too late???
I thought programs sent their lists in on Jan 31st and now all we can do is sit tight and pray. Am I tripping?

All programs are on different schedules. I know there were places still interviewing as late as the first week of February. But you are right that the majority probably have lists prepared. So it's unlikely to make a big difference at this point. But it couldn't hurt either.

I would definitely update PD with your abstract, just in case they are still tinkering with ROLs & it shows that you are still very interested. Some programs are still meeting next week to finalize ROLs.

Thank you to aPD, dragonfly99, and Law2Doc, as well as all the others who provided advice.
I've got the email and will be sending tomorrow AM.
There's definitely a chance it will not make a difference, but I looked at it this way too: if I don't send it and consequently don't feel that I gave this program (my #1) my all, then how will I feel? That made it a sure thing.
Thanks to you all, as always!😀

Do you recommend emailing everyone with this news or just your number one program?
