Are there many Mercer applicants here? Accepted? 😀 Waiting list? 🙄 Still waiting to hear? 😕

If you are Mercer bound, or if Mercer is your top choice, please share some info about yourself.

I was accepted early fall. Mercer was the only place I applied.

Seems like most of the names on the roll call for Mercer have also been accepted elsewhere. Have any of you made a decision on where you will attend?

I was accepted to Mercer in the beginning of March and I am planning on attending!! I will be coming from FL, so ATL is a new thing for me, but I'm really excited. I'm unable to attend the Pre-orientation coming up, but I am going to ATL right after I graduate, so I can look for apartments. Have you thought about where you are going to live yet? Do you have any potential rommies? If you are looking, so am I. Just let me know!

I was accepted to Mercer and Samford, but I am going to Samford. Good luck at Mercer. It seems like a great school with caring teachers and staff.

It's a shame you aren't going to be at the orientation next Friday! It would be nice to meet. I'm going to orientation with my hubby, who, btw, will be my roomie. My three kids will also be my roomies!!! lol We plan on living in Woodstock, which is where I am from originally. (Woodstock is north of Mercer, 'bout 40 minutes, or so.) I have family there, whom I hope will give hubby a hand with the kids while I'm busy with school. 🙂

I live in Chattanooga right now, but we will be moving in the summer.

I'm looking forward to the fall and getting the next four years behind me! I'm so ready for a break from school!!! I'm finishing up my third year...only four to go!

Bring your patience with you when drive out here. Traffic is a mofo and Mercer is b/w 285 and 85...ouch. I guess the married folk can't party too much..lol but the youngins can!! Mercer is too expensive for me...so I'm headed to UGA. They do have some nice apartments very close to the campus and a MARTA station is not too far from Mercer. Good luck yall!!

atlanta_pharm,
I was considering MARTA as an option. How close is it? Is it the rail or bus? Is it safe? There is the big MARTA station on 400 that I could park and ride. Is there a better place to pick up MARTA if I'm north of Atlanta. The closest town that it serves, I believe, is Marietta or Roswell. I could go either direction from where I plan to live.

Thanks

I'll be @ Mercer this fall, and I cannot attend the spring picinc either. Though I would like to meet future classmates I cant take off work and pay to fly down for a picnic or drive for 10.5 hours one way either, I live in Maryland by the way. I will be looking to buy a house late may/ early june...know any good realtors for that area? I am sooo excited to be starting this fall! 😀

I was accepted early fall. I am planning on attending unless I hear from my state school anytime soon. I will also be coming from FL, so living in GA will be a new experience for me. I'm hoping to attend the Pre-orientation coming up. My wife and I just recently had our first child, so I really don't want to leave her alone while I make the trip. My wife really hopes I don't get into the state school and we can move from Florida. We hope to buy a house also, hopefully find something near the school if possible. Really don't want to deal with the crazy traffic in Atlanta.

I am 27 married with a baby girl. So what's the age bracket looking like of fellow classmates?

I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone!! 🙂 I'm excited about this fall. I hope the block schedule works though....that's the only thing i'm not sure of. what do you all think about it?
Also does anyone know about the rent for the surrounding apartments at Mercer...?
btw. i will be coming from PA!! finally some sun! 😉 I won't be able to visit till july end though...have to take a couple courses this summer to get my bachelors in august!!

^ pharmacy classes usually comprise of a varied age group...especially mercer since it does not have a pre-pharmacy program....because schools which do will usually have a lot of younger students who joined the 6 year after highschool....hmm...i'll be 21 this June!

Mercers website has a great page about housing and many links to apartments with rent and floorplan info, check it out

Thankx tetra 🙂

I'm 40, married, and have 3 kids. Fall '05 they will be: a 2nd grader, a junior in HS, and a freshman in college. I'm sure I won't be the oldest student, but I'll be close!!! 😛 lol

I plan on living north of Mercer and comuting in. I'm thinking about Marta train and bus, but haven't looked into it enough to make that decision yet. Thought it would provide extra study time. ($40 a month, unlimited rides...cheaper than gas!)

Looking forward to meeting you all soon!! Congrats to you all! 😀

The area Mercer isn't necessarily a high crime area but it isn't the safest either. I'm really familiar with the area since I live out that way lol. For anyone wanting to commute the bus that stops right in front of Mercer is from the Chamblee Station. The ride from the Chamblee Station to Mercer is only like 15 mins w/o traffic. Chamblee Station is a park and ride facility with free parking. Now if you park/ride for a diff MArta station you can always take the train to get to the Chamblee Station and hop on the bus. I test rode the route a while back. It passes the CDC and IRS lol. I forgot the bus number though. Just go to the www.itsmarta.com and look for the schedule. BTW the Chamblee Station is on the NE line. Those of you looking for houses near Mercer, you might want to try the Hendeson Mill area, since that subdivision is only like 5 mins from Mercer. Also, there are 2 schools in that neighborhood, one elementary and middle school I believe. And several churches for those of you interested. Just realize that the area Mercer is a melting pot. I see that as a plus but then again some don't. Several malls around the area and a huge movie theater with 24 screens. If anyone wants some more info about the area let me know and I'll reply as soon as possible. I wish all yall the best of luck!

Hey there! I'm 21 as well (I'll be 22 by the time school starts). I was getting worried that everyone was older from all the posts! I'm coming from FL and looking for apts too! I went online and the avg price per person in like a 2 or 3 bedroom seems to be around $450-550. I'm going to be visiting ATL May 1st with my family right after I graduate from UF to look and then go back in June/July and sign an apt after I get back from my month long trip to Europe (my graduation present to myself!!). Let me know if you are interested in roomies or planning on living on your own.

How is everyone going about paying for tuition / getting financial aid.

I filled out my FAFSA, but I called Mercer cause I was confused when it asked me what year I would be in August. Mercer told me to put 3rd year/ second degree, and I made sure to tell them I already had my BA and this was for Pharm sch. Doesnt that mean that we get less $ loan wise than selecting 1st yr graduate level? Or am I just very confused? 😕 I get so freaked out thinking about going from 40K a year to like what... maybe 10K a year and thats pushing it. :scared:

BTW I'll be 25 in 5 weeks 😀

Hi everyone--

I have not been accepted to Mercer, I have an interview on April 18th. Anyone have one then? I am 21 as well.. it seems like a lot of people are from out of state. I live in Georgia. I really liked the people at Mercer the times I've visited.

BTW, I'm new to the posts so greetings everyone!
