I am having such a hard time deciding which school I want to go to and I just wanted opinions from you all. Which school would you prefer going to and why? I think my main concern is how far I will be from home, but I need to learn to be away somehow. I still would like opinions however.

I would choose Mercer:

for one, they are a little more prestigious. They have much better facilities. And it is not a lot of complaints about this school. They have a excellent campus and its in Atlanta!! YaYeh. :hardy: Lots of jobs and lots of stuff to do. Much wider diversity.

I interviewed at both those schools and I noticed a HUGE difference in the environments. Nova is huge and bustling with students. It seemed like there was so much going on, tons of kids in the cafeteria, tables, events, etc. Mercer seemed very quiet and isolated. Hardly any peole walking around and a much smaller campus.

If you like quiet and calm, I'd say go to Mercer. If you like energy and lots of people around, I'd say Nova. I think your happiness in the environment is more important than the school's prestige. I'm sure both schools will make you a good pharmacist!

I would go to the school which closes to my home. It saves my money and also I do not have to go to a new location. It is a challenge when you have to make new friends in the new place. I do not know much about Mercer. Nova is a good school but too much expensive.

this shouldnt even be a question. Mercer 100% bc nova is way too expensive and alot of the times u arnt been taught by a real prof but rather some classes are satelites in fortl ladl. but damn ur unbelievably lucky. hell i want a chance to pick between those schoold 🙁

I also interviewed with both and got two totally different vibes. Mercer was quiet but everyone was very personable and friendly and had smiles on their faces. Even the cafeteria guy said that if we ever needed anything he'd be willing to help. I absolutely loved it. My vibe at NOVA was just ok. The students were nice but I barely saw any faculty and the faculty I interviewd with weren't that great. I have been accepted to Mercer and still waiting to hear from NOVA. Interviewing with Howard next week.

a pharm d is a pharm d... so just choose the cheaper school

nova is cheaper than mercer.
I walked around campus and talked to kids at nova and they said they rarely have broadcasted lectures. I think there's a lot of info going around about nova that's just rumors...
I really liked nova! lol

I enjoyed my interview at Mercer. I agree with everyone else it was such a calming atmosphere. I absolutely love that. I went to FSU for undergrad and as busy as that is I wouldn't miss it a bit! Everyone was friendly as well and it seemed as though people really appreciated Mercer.

If there is a HUGE difference in money then choose the cheaper school, but if there is a small difference I would choose Mercer personally.

I also believe that Nova is cheaper than Mercer for FL residents. A lot of your decision has to do with your individual situation, if you are mobile and want a new environment, this is a great opportunity for you to travel and try it out. If you are not so mobile (family, job, not interested in moving) than stay closer to home. For me, I really want to stay in the state so I only applied to 2 FL schools (incl Nova). I did the moving to a new city for my undergrad, moved across the country and in the end I still wanted to live in south Florida. So, this time around I am making the decision based on staying in FL; Nova has great connections in the area and your rotations and network base will all be in the area. If that is more appealing to you, your best bet would be Nova. Both are very good schools with very good reputations.

I don't have much information for you except that I love Atlanta and a friend of mine went to Mercer and loved it 😍.

I've made my decision. I'm going to Mercer. I still wish I couldve been a "little" bit closer to home. My dad made a valid point that I don't come home now unless it's the holidays, but I guess it was comfort to know that if I did want to go home it was just 3 hours away.

Yeah!! You will love it, and if you are just dying to get home, AirTran will do student stand/by tickets for cheap!

Oh 3 hours is not bad at all!

Mercer is the cheaper school.

NOVA: "Anticipated tuition for 2007-2008 (subject to change by the Board of Trustees without notice): $18,985 for Florida residents and $22,365 for out-of-state students. A Health Professions Division general access fee of $145 is required each year. An NSU student services fee of $750 is also required annually."

MERCER:
Tuition for 2007-2008
Doctor of Pharmacy
Students enrolled in 12 or more hours per semester:

Per Semester (First, Second, Third Year)
Tuition
Technology Fee
$12,999
$ 100

Keep in mind that Mercer quotes tuition per semester (2 semesters/yr) and Nova quotes tuition per year. I am just trying to prevent sticker shock when the invoice comes. 🙂

Several horror stories were posted about Nova recently. The whistle blower claimed many lectures were outsourced to Puerto Rico and that the labs were dilapidated.

Mercer's tuition is 12,999 a semester. So 12,999 x2 = 25,998, which is more expensive than Nova's tuition for in-state or out-of-state. Believe me, I've looked into it....lol

Its also nice to go to ATL because of the major aiport hub and the possibility of cheap tickets from airlines trying to fill up seats. ATL to FT Ld.
