Messenger Bag vs. Backpack in Vet School

I have been rocking a Chrome Metropolitan [...]

Do you mean the Metropolis? Not being picky, just want to know if I'm looking at the right thing. My old bag was barely cut out for my undergrad classes when I was only taking two at a time, needed no accessories other than a calculator, and didn't carry a laptop. So this thread interests me. 🙂

Hey this is kinda relevant to the topic... but for the people who bring there laptops to school in their bag (whatever bag you use) does it get scratched up a lot? Would you guys recommend a laptop cover like this

just to protect it... or if you use protecting what kind do you use?

I don't have a skin for mine (well I do, but it's Ironman and strictly decorative), but I do have a neoprene sleeve for my netbook. I like the little extra shock absorption it gives me. I've also had one accident where my water bottle cracked, the sleeve protected the netbook.

Yeah, whoops. That's it. It's pretty big, though. I'm about 5'8, stocky, and the bag can cover my whole back when full, but that's handy when you are grocery shopping while on your bike.

I started of last semester with a backpack, but once I go my new computer (a more reliable tablet PC), I switched over to strictly a messenger bag. During the typical day I only need my computer to take notes and look up the powerpoints. I usually have a backpack of books in my truck if I'm planning on studying that day, but they usually don't make it into the school.

I'm definitely jealous of the whole cubicle/desk setup. Something like UC Davis has with a room for each class would be nice too.

oh.... I never thought about water damage eekkk. I think I will be buying some kind of protection for my computer. Maybe just a skin is not enough

my backpack just recently "broke" a couple weeks ago [the zippers to both sections came off its track, so now it's ghetto-ly put together somehow]

and whoooo, i did some researching on the backpacks y'all mentioned on here and some more on other websites and finally decided

and so i just ordered a backpack from patagonia! their backpacks are waterproof [which is important since Gville in the summer means rain!] and the the company is also very enviro friendly!
