Hey all! I'm more than half way done with my pharmacy pre-reqs and will have my bachelor's next year. I'm feeling pretty good about applying to pharmacy school next year because I've learned (and retained) so much information, did well in my pre-reqs, have tons of pharmacy experience, and am all around passionate about the field.

However my actual transcript is MESSY and I am worried! My first year of school I did awful, have a year full of withdrawls (that have medical reasons that were provided and accepted by my university), and scattered W's throughout my transcript. My electives are all over the place (from world religions, to analytical chemistry, to appreciation of film), I've gone back and forth from community to university a few times(for financial reasons), and even took time off from school. Aside from this I only have one F on my transcript and my GPA is a 3.34 with a math/science of 3.0. I'm just worried that when the pharmacy schools further investigate my transcript they will think "Holy hell! What has this girl been doing?!?!"

I don't want to have to explain everything about my transcript to the interviewers because I don't want to be seen as somebody with plenty of excuses. Am I being overly paranoid? Or should I not worry?

Thanks for reading and if anyone else was or currently is in the same boat let me know!!

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I had transcripts from 5 different schools that spanned over 14 years! And I still got into pharmacy school!🙂

Your GPA looks ok, so you shouldbe fine. Just be prepared to explain why you jumped around, if you are asked during an interview. The interviews I had were closed file, so it may not even be brought up.

I had an awful mess of transcripts as well (including 2 military schools that were WASC accredited) with 3 certifications, 5 AA/AS degrees and 2 bachelor degrees.

It's the quality they care about. If you have a good reason for moving around and having an addled transcript then that's what matters (and that your grades were good). I mean, if you don't have a reason beyond "I dunno" then they'll assume you were just shopping for grades. But... I don't think that's the case for you OP.

Thanks for the ressurance guys!

And Passion4Sci thanks for sharing your story.. i'm constantly bombarded with classmates with awesome GPA's and no withdrawls so it's refreshing to hear other people who have had some bumps in the road prevail 🙂

I've definitely had some bumps. And some potholes, missed turns, carmageddons, you name it. 🙂
