hey, what type of metal do braces usally contain? And second question, say this metal is slowly scraped away by the teeth and swallowed over a period of 2 years. could this be harmfull to the users health? thanks, david.

Most traditional brackets and wires are made from stainless steel. There are also nickel titanium wires used for different application. The amount of metal coming off the metal, being ingested and incorporated into tissues is minimal and should not pose a health risk unless you're allergic to nickel.

awesome thanks its just one sometimes wakes up with a metalic taste in his or her mouth. thanks again.
