I am sure you are all sick of this kind of post, but I have not really seen one comparing solely MFT and MHC.

I am waiting to hear back from the MHC programs I applied to in NYC. Such as NYU, Columbia, Fordham and Brooklyn College. I am just terrified that the MFT average annual income is about $10,000- $15,000 more than MHC.

I was recently looking at MFT programs in Los Angeles, CA but came to find that I would not be able to relocate from the east coast due to my father being diagnosed with cancer. So I started looking for MFT prgrams in NYC only to find that there is only ONE MFT program on manhattan island and it is religious. The others are an hour or so outside of the city and that is just not something I could do. So I looked towards MHC programs only to come to recently find that they make significantly less than MFT. For the record I am not interested in the MSW programs.

At this point I am still on track to do an MHC program and looking to complete a MFT certificate program in the future.

Someone please give some advice. Which do you all think is the best option. Should I really be looking only at MFT programs?

One thing to consider: MFT has its own national association and seem to be a degree recognized in all states, albeit being licensed in one state does not mean you'll be licensed in another. I had not heard of MHC until tonight while browsing through the board. California, for one, does not recognize MHC (I guess that's why I had not heard of it).
