I never expected this many acceptances at once, and I'm having trouble getting my thoughts together.

If you have a second, and you have an opinion about these schools (positive or negative), could you please post it. It will give me an ide of what I really need to think about.

Thanks, and I wish all of you the same luck I have had! 🙂

Well, I don't know about FAU or VCU (no, seriously I don't even know what the acronyms are for), but I'd pick Rochester over Miami if you don't mind cold weather.

congrats! I'd pick miami BECAUSE of the weather 😉

Haha, but keep in mind there's those pesky hurricanes. And even when it's not hurricaning there's an awful lot of summertime rain.

Rochester might be a frozen hell-hole for most of the year, but when it's not a frozen hellhole it's a very pleasant place weather-wise. Umm...who am I kidding, hahaha. Terrible weather there.

But, still, I know some people who actually prefer the freezing cold (not really myself, but I know I can tolerate it).

How much will each of these schools cost you (assuming no scholarships)?

about $37,000 at Miami, $34,000 at Rochester, and $25,000 at VCU.

I'm trying not to pick based on finances if i dont have to.

It is the most respected school in this group. Forget about the cold weather. Get a big dog (Labrador) to sleep on your bed at night during the winter, or better yet, a girl friend.

I am interviewing at Rochester and I would be very pleased to be admitted to such a fine school. No disrespect to the others, but my vote is Rochester.

It's actually in the 60's this week in Rochester.

I hear it's a lot warmer than all its surrounding cities.

global warming at its finest.

Pick UM@FAU! It doesn't rain all the time here...just late summer/early fall. Hurricane smirricanes...we only had school close for 2 days this year cuz of one lousy hurricane that didn't really affect us too much. UM@FAU will only have 32 students. You get your own desk w/ computer in the nerderies. All lectures are recorded and available on the web. You can do rotations in boca or down in miami. We have a simulation center with 4 robotic dummies. The only bad thing about boca is that rent is very expensive (1K/month). (I get to live at home for free though 😛 ) Anyway, I'll be there in the fall. Hope to see you there too. 🙂

I'm nervous about FAU not having a track record. And I was under the impression that I had to do rotations in Boca. I do think it's a great program, though.

I asked the dean Dr. Markowitz and he said we can do rotations in boca and/or miami. the fau program has already been around for 3 years it'll just be the first year at boca for all four years. and it's not like fau's starting there own med school, it the university of miami. the first 2 classes through fau had the same tests as the miami people. i think that our profs will make the test for us though but i'm sure it'll have the same general format or whatever. the boca community hospital is nice, clean and they have a women's center, cancer (radiation oncology) center, ER, ICU, NICU, peds floor, radiology, blah blah their ER isn't a trauma ER but we'll also be using bethesda and JFK (which i think is). I plan to go down to miami to do my ER rotation. anyway, i know it's a little scary cuz it's new but somebody's got to be the pioneer...might as well be us. 😛 😛 Let me know what you eventually decide...
