Michigan Application Fee

Anyone know anything about this? I know it's $65 but the website is pretty vague about where/when to send it. Thanks.

How did you pay? On their website they says:

A $65 application fee is required. The application fee is paid online via a secure site.

After we receive your AADSAS application, you will receive and email with instructions on how to check the status of your application via the University of Michigan's database, including receipt of your online application fee.

I remember a few days back, the website said they will be updating us on how to pay the fee. Then someone called and said they are still setting up the system to do this.

Did you send them a check?

Steps for the University of Michigan
A $65 application fee is required. *The application fee is paid online via a secure site.
Official U.S. DAT scores are automatically posted to your application from the ADA. We do accept Canadian DAT scores but the official scores must be mailed to the school. We will not consider official those Canadian DAT scores that are self-reported on the AADSAS application.
After we receive your AADSAS application, you will receive and email with instructions on how to check the status of your application via the University of Michigan's database, including receipt of your online application fee.
Once we receive the AADSAS application, application fee, letters of recommendation and official DAT scores, your application will be considered complete and ready for review.

I just paid for it yesterday with my credit card.
From what I read it was like uop where you need to pay their app fee before they review your application.

I did not send them a check. I payed online. I have not seen the option to pay the fee on their website until recently. I don't see a reason why they would add the link on their website if they weren't ready to start receiving payments.

To be considered for admission

All applicants must do the following:

• Electronically submit an application online to AADSAS.
• Submit three letters of recommendation through AADSAS. Two letters must be from science instructors, the third can be from a non-science instructor such as a previous employer, dentist, clergy member, or other.
• Release UM School of Dentistry on the ADA website to receive official DAT scores through AADSAS.
• When requested, submit an application fee to the University of Michigan.

The "secure site" was hyperlinked and I payed through there. I guess they may have removed it. I payed yesterday around 6pm pdt.

Ah, that is where the confusion came from. They had the link posted, but since removed it. I think we will just have to wait until they send us an email instructing us what to do next after having received our application.

I noticed they edited their site again:

"$65 application fee is required. An online payment system is being implemented, check back to this website for notification when the process goes live. Please do not mail a check to the office."


I also found the pay link to the website in my history, but I won't post it on here to avoid confusion on their side haha.

Did anyone get a confirmation email telling you they received the payment? I didn't get any email. Usually they send an automatic email saying your payment went through. I just printed the receipt page just in case. Also, how will they match the payment to our application? Guessing by our name and email address? I didn't see any box for AADSAS # or SSN.

I didn't get a confirmation either. Maybe because it's the weekend?

they can match the application with your name, as long as you didn't make mistake on the spelling.

speaking of UMich, if I apply to a dental school known for its research, like UMich, and I don't have any background in research, none, does that mean higher chance of rejection from these research focused schools?

research may or may not even help, unless you indicate interest in a masters or phd. no research = +0

It's much more than the weekend. I paid in 2013 and didn't get a receipt (email). I screen shot and saved an image of it. Just in case if anyone is wondering about email confirmation! 🙂
