Yesterday (Feb 2, 2004) I received word that I've been invited to Michigan for an interview. I'm from out of state and where I'd like to think my stats are good, I'm getting a feeling they are just average. (DAT=science overall 18; science gpa= 3.54)

Regardless I'll be going to the interview, but I've already been accepted to Indiana and I know their class is about full...Is Michigan just a little behind in the intervew process or do you think they're just interviewing me for a spot on their waiting list??

Also, does anyone know anything more about Michigan than it's a great research school? I LOVE Ann Arbor! I just wanted to get a little more feeback on the school and what makes it so great! Thanks!

good question. why not call and ask them. don't talk to a sec'y ask for the director and let him/her know you already have acceptance elsewhere but would like to go to their school.

Chevy,
I was pretty much born and raised in AA. I was accepted to their program and think it's absolutely wonderful. I may be biased bc I went there for undergrad. I know a lot of the faculty bc I grew up there.

Here is what I got from the interview:
1. very good reputation
2. Rent supplies
3. A little expensive (especially out-of-state)
4. Nice to be on a college campus
5. Excellent research
6. Neat externship program.

If you have any specific ?'s I could try to answer them.

Good Luck🙂

Michigan seems to run late with their whole interview process... I was interviewed last year in March, and they sent me an acceptance letter 1 day after I left Ann Arbor. Definitely a decent chance you can get accepted out right. I loved Ann Arbor, too... It had the same sort of big research school feel as U.C. Berkeley, just that there is a ton of snow, and it is 100 times colder.... but I still liked it a lot. Clinically, however, they aren't as strong as schools like Pacific...which is where I eventually decided to attend. It was a tough decision even though I am a California native. Michigan just has such a huge reputation for their bio/med/dent research. If you are interested in research, I would definitely recommend U Mich. As long as you can stand the cold, and being indoors/underground for the entire winter, then it shouldn't be a problem. Go Blue... too bad they had to lose to USC this year in the Rose Bowl...

Ya we lost to usc but we will be back next year to win championship. I am pre-dent at michigan (engineering major) and I love ann arbor as a town but I am trying to away only becasue it is really cold and I don't like that much cold and specifically this year and they never cancel classes even there is 2 feet of snow but from what I hear it is a very good reputabel dental school but man its only four years of cold if you can take it go. I will go here if I get here becasue it's my state school and I love ann arbor in the fall and summer. Good luck with whereever you decide to go.

They may have lost the Rosebowl this year, but Class of '99 Alum Tom Brady didn't look too bad Sunday!
