streptococcus mitis are present in on the tongue and in the saliva and also causes endocarditis

Streptococcus salivarius are present in the oral cavity in the saliva and colonize in the upper respiratory tract and mouth. The bacteria is considered an opportunistic pathogens, rarely finding its way into the bloodstream, where it has been implicated in septicemia cases in people with neutropenia.
