I've looked through textbooks and notes and I'm very confused about these 2 related questions:

The part labeled "C" in the figure (see attachment) is a feature of all of the following EXCEPT:
A. Eccrine sweat glands
B. Sebaceous glands
C. Apocrine sweat glands
D. Mammary glands

The part labeled "C" in the figure:
A. Produces elastic fibers for the stroma of the organ its located in
B. Stains pink with PAS
C. Is a cell type unique to the organ pictured
D. Responds to oxytocin in the blood stream

Could somebody pleeease explain this one to me? I'm guessing "C" is a duct but aren't all 4 of the glands exocrine so they all use ducts?? Or is "C" a stroma??

I know the "A" in the figure is apocrine and merocrine secretion - at least I know that much!

Thank you very much! 🙂

Well there really is no such thing as "a stroma". The duct is actually what those cells are secreting into.

C would be myeloepithelial cells, which are cells of epithelial origin that have the ability to contract (to project the secretions of the gland outwards). They would be unique to glands. (I'm reasonably sure about that last bit, but it's been a while since I did histo).

oh wow, you're right!

thank you so much 🙂
