Microphaco versus standard phaco research

Hello everybody!
I am looking for some articles regarding the advantages of the coaxial microphacoemulsification with a 2.2 mm incision over the standard phacoemulsification with a 2.75 mm clear corneal incision. I have already found something on PubMed but my research is mostly focused on the benefits that could yield an hospital structure employing this kind of techinque. As always your advice is greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure you'll fine a whole lot in the peer-reviewed literature discussing this. All of the benefits are theoretical at this time.
However, it shouldn't be hard to get a hospital to switch over, since the smaller sets don't require you to take on an entire new system. If you already have an Infiniti, for example, all you have to do is get the new handpiece, replace the 2.75 blades with 2.2 and get the smaller cartridges and injector (the injector is backwards compatible with the old cartridges). It's not a huge investment, and, at our hospital at least, it didn't rate enough to even qualify as a capital investment that's reserved for larger purchases.
