Well I am in Biology now. Never had it before. This is my question. I am having a very difficult time looking into the microscope. Whether it is my vision or technique, I am not sure, but it has taken me 3 lab sessions to complete 1 lab due to my inadequate microscope skills.

My question is, are there are lot of Pharmacy classes/ Pharmacy issues that involve microscopes? I would really hate to have to abandon this dream over a piece of equipment, but I am majorly stressed about it.

Any help would be appreciated.

No need to abandon your dream. I've never had to deal with microscopes in pharmacy school, and I most definitely have not seen it in community or hospital pharmacy. Although there may be some weird pharmacy class out there that might use them (though I've never heard of it), I think you'll be fine. Not like I wouldn't mind, I have my own compound microscope and enjoy using it from time to time 😉

That's a relief. Thanks. I really enjoyed what I could see, but it was so frustrating to not see anything that everybody else was seeing. 🙁

When you take Microbiology Lab, you will get the hang of it in no time. It is pretty cool to see sample using magnification 10x, 40x, and 100x(with the oil). So don't worry about it.

Some schools don't require micro for admission... i have never taken it. They taught us Infectious Diseas (medical micro) our second semester of the p1 year.
we had a lady with her masters in micro and she couldn't get out of the class.

I took micro and micro lab as pre-reqs and again this quarter in pharmacy school. However, microscope skills aren't going to make or break a pharmacist, I promise. 🙂

i bet that was fun... made ID more interesting anyway... i think in only attended about 5 of our ID 1 classes the whole semester... it was 8am and the guy came in and turned off the lights on us 😴

the only lab we have our 1-2years is the ceutics and that is just the 1st yr

During our 3rd year we have more... but they are like patient evaluation... APE (advance practice experience)... and something else...

Yeah, we have ceutics 1 and 2 lab, applied care lab, micro lab, and a few misc group workshops our first year. I think we're done with lab for good (not counting any of our rotations).
