Hi,
English is my second language and I have a problem understanding the paragraph I quoted here.

"Microtubules are made of the protein tubulin and provide support and motility for cellular activities. They are found in the spindle apparatus, which guides the movement of chromosomes during cell division, and in flagella and cilia (described in the following section), structures that project from the plasma membrane to provide motility to the cell."

does it mean that Flagella, Cilia and spindle apparatus are made from Microtubules?
and Microtubules are made from plasma membrane?

Thank you,
Mona

You are correct. Microtubules are present in cilia and flagella. However, they are made from a protein called Tubulin, not from plasma membrane. Plasma membrane is made out of lipids, proteins and sugars.
Hope this helps.

Mona, if you are reading feralis's notes - yes, you are correct- microtubules are found in both cilia and flagella, but they are not made of plasma membrane - rather they are made from tubulin

Tubulin proteins make Microtubules.
Microtubules make Flagella, Cilia, Spindle Apparatus.
Flagella and Cilia extend out of plasma membrane and help the cell move around. Cilia can also move fluid that's around itself.

Thank you all,
I guess I thought "structures that project from the plasma membrane" means they came from plasma membrane.
