So it's mid-March and I still haven't heard much from dental schools other than rejection notices or they're still reviewing my application.

Is it pretty logical to think I don't have a shot at any of the remaining schools? BU, NYU, USC, Tufts, and Marquette still haven't replied to me, although Marquette is the only school that has actually said that my application is going through a re-review process. I still haven't gotten an interview...

Shouldn't these schools at least notify us what's going on? Anyone else in the same boat and know any info?

I agree with not losing hope. That's important. But, it's also important to be realistic. You would greatly defy the odds if you were to get an acceptance at this point in the game. This is especially true considering that you don't even have any interviews lined up.

You should start making plans to apply the upcoming cycle, which isn't that far off. You'll be turning in your application in about 2-3 months from now.

I applied nine dental schools and I just heard from USC for interview. Except UNLV, which denied my application in the early March, all other schools put me "Under Review" in the status on AADSAS website. However, don't trust the website! I called UOP, LLU, UCLA... they said the majority of class are selected and said I'll get a decision letter in few weeks - that means the rejection letter probably (because I didn't have interviews at these schools). I lose hope this year 🙁 and I gonna reapply in May.

littlepepe....hey I'm in the exact same boat as you....completed my apps in mid-october, (UCLA) GPA: 3.48 SCIENCE GPA:3.45 20(AA)/21(TS)/17(PAT), and I got rejected from UNLV and I had a interview at SC on the 24th of feb. I really think that we applied late more than anything else...if we were an early applicant we would have heard from other schools as well.I hope you hear from USC SOON... and hopefully we'll be classmates😉

I agree your best bet is USC. At my interview, a student told me he interviewed in April and was accepted in May so there is hope.

USC isn't a first pick for too many people ($ and PBL resons) plus they have a large class size. Seats open up a lot over there.


BUT, like another poster said, it's time to be real about it and prepare for the next cycle in case you don't get in. Cover your bases.

I'm in the exact same boat as you at all of those schools minus USC. I am still praying for a miracle at this point. All of these schools have longer admissions processes than other schools and interview later so that's a good thing. Personally, I think the reason we're still in limbo is NYU in particular is waiting for the second deposits. At this point, SO MANY people sent in that first deposit to NYU even though they have no intention of going there and won't withdraw. However, most of them can't afford to send in the second deposit, so clearly a lot of spots have to open up after May 1st when the 2nd deposit is due. If I don't hear any good news in the month of May, that is when I will give up hope, send in my app, and re-take the DAT. Until then, I just gotta keep the faith. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!! 👍

You could probably cross Marquette off, they interview way early and if you haven't gotten an invite for an interview then I highly doubt you will. I applied late and have been in re-review since December 2nd at Marquette and just the other day I got a rejection from them. Also when the admissions guy came to our school in September he said if they don't have our applications by early October then you can pretty much count on a rejection from them. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

My interview at USC was March 10. I will probably know the decision in early April. If I couldn't get into USC, I will re-apply in May for the next cycle...

Waiting on: UCSF (Early Feb.), USC (Early Jan.), and BU (Feb. Got a regional interview and Dr. Stoute offered to give me a private tour of BU when I went for my Tufts interview)

Waitlist: Creighton, Pitts (Loved the school - but got waitlisted since Oct.!!), and Tufts

GPA: 3.4 Cum, 3.4 Sci
DAT: 20 TS, 21 AA, 23 PAT (19 BIO 🙁 , 24 RC & 22 QR 😀 ) No dentist LOR => Stupid me

Just wondering what my chances are and thanks alot. Wish everyone much luck too.

At this point it has nothing to do with stats. It's all about the timeline, and time is running short. Most classes will be full soon, if they aren't already.
