I know a lot of you guys are too far away and this won't apply to you, but there are some in the area and I just wanted to extend an invitation to the MidSouth Conference here in Memphis. It will be Feb 23-24 and we've got some pretty good audiology speakers lined up. Student registration is $40 individual or $30per person (group of 4+) and we would love to see some of you there.

Some audiology speakers are:

  • Cynthia McCormick Richburg (APD)

    [*]Marc ***elson (Tinnitus)
[*]Richard Roberts (Vestib/Balance; I've heard him speak before and he is very good.)
    [*]
Frederick B. Palmer and Kathryn A. McVicar (Pediatric Neurodevelopment)

[*]Lisa Lucks Mendel (Cochlear Implants, One of my professor's and a great teacher)
    [*]David Luterman (Counseling)

Haha, it doesn't make quite as much sense to me either, but I like to keep the locals happy and that's been the name of the conference for 40+ years.

Oh man, wish I was closer! I'd love to sit in on Luterman's talk.

Get your classmates and ROAD TRIP! It's only a 10 hour drive...

Yeah, but less than a month later I'll be flying to Boston, and I'm sure that'll be midterm week or something.

Yeah it's a busy time of year. Thankfully for us, it's our conference and it's run by the students so classes are cancelled those 2 days.

You lucky jerk!

It's pretty sweet. I think our attendance is around 700-800 area professionals. I'm the A/V chair this year, so I'll be running around fixing powerpoints and projectors most of the time, but I will hopefully be able to catch a few sessions. I'll definitely try to get you a copy of Luterman's handouts to email you if you'd like.

And speaking of Boston, are there plans for an SDN meetup? I'll be there Tues-Friday afternoon. Have to leave Friday for NSSLHA meeting in DC.

That would be swell! Do you know what his title is?

I haven't gotten word of an SDN gathering yet. I'll be there Tuesday but I have my tattoo appointment in the afternoon and my volunteer slot is early Wednesday. Maybe we could squeeze in drinks or something during one if the other evenings?

Yeah one of the other nights should work fine for me. I asked the student in charge of AuD programming and she didn't know Luterman's specific title off hand but said it's going to be a counseling focused session.
