Hi,

Whats the lowest pcat midwestern chicago will probably take. I have over 4 years of pharmtech experience but my pcat is pretty low. I hav e heaard of people that got waitlisted with mediocre scores. Is it possible to get in? Any stories out there with someone in a smiliar case? Any input would be much appreciated!

From their website. "We do not have a minimum score requirement, however, the average 2009 PCAT composite score was an 71%."

If you know your PCAT score is low, then why not retake it? If your score is significantly lower than the average composite score presented above, then you're putting yourself at risk of not being accepted or even receiving an interview invite. I have said this before and I'll say it again. There is no guaranteed way to gain admission into pharmacy school. It's all relative to each person. I'm sure in the past there have been people with PCAT composite scores lower than 71% who have been admitted to this institution but you can't compare one person to another and expect the same outcome.

There are a lot of factors besides PCAT scores that the adcom look at. You have to also factor in GPA, pharmacy experience, LORs, ECs, leadership experience, etc.

does anyone know when the phone interview for the career explorers program is?

I have my phone interview for the program tomorrow. I'm pretty excited/nervous.

Make sure you check your email, otherwise I think they should contact you pretty soon if you are selected for an interview. Good luck!

PCAT is only one of many components of your application. Midwestern loves people with Bachelor's degrees, so if you have one you're in good shape. Pharmacy experience is great, if you also have a good GPA, good LOR's, and a decent amount of volunteer work your application can still be considered pretty competitive. If it makes you feel any better, a friend of mine just got into UIC with a 40-something percentile composite, and 11th percentile biology, no degree and no pharmacy experience. She just had a stellar GPA, tons of extracurriculars, and did really well at the interview. UIC is a great school and they'll overlook a bad score, Midwestern may do the same
